Dear Visitor!

Welcome to the website of my multilingual coaching, counselling and psychotherapy practice. you will find an overview of the services I offer.
Please also take a look at the FAQ section where many practical questions are answered.

Flexible times

If you are based in Europe or in the Americas, my geographical location allows me to offer you consultations before or after working hours.
This means you don’t have to miss work or school, nor will you be asked to explain your absence.

Multilingual

I offer my services in four languages:
English, French, Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese.
This means I can accommodate sessions in more than one language at the time. During couple counseling this can sometimes help greatly.

Quality & Care

I am highly committed to provide quality care, based on up to date scientific research.  In my approach I strive to be respectful pragmatic as well as open minded to your experience and reality.

EDUCATION

I hold a degree in integrative psychotherapy from the Dutch Academie of Psychotherapy since 2009. I am also trained in EMDR on both the trauma and phobia protocols, also in the Netherlands. Finally, I hold an MBA in Global Business Management from the Fundação Getulio Vargas, with a focus on M&A and Cultural Due Diligence.

Besides my practice, I have a broad professional background with over 20 years in multinational environments, the last 10 of which in Human Resources and talent development.

About me

From a personal point of view, I believe in the capacity for self-management and self-determination of the people I work with, once they have discovered the tools and insights allowing them to use their inner resources.

I do not believe in the medicalization of mental health, although I recognize that sometimes medication can be of great help and, sometimes, it can literally save lives.

I have a strong humanistic view of the world, strengthened by the many years living in foreign countries, and by the countless people from all walks of life with whom I have had the privilege of working.

Frequently asked questions

I have a physical practice in Brazil in São Paulo and I attend clients worldwide in my virtual online practice.

Via email or phone, we make an initial intake appointment for a 30 minutes assessment consultation so I can understand your needs. At the end of this first contact, if you decide to continue, you will be able to schedule follow-up sessions through the appointment form on the contact page.

Sessions are done via video conference systems such as Zoom.
After we have made an initial intake appointment via phone or email, you can use the contact page to book an appointment. The system will automatically send you a link for the upcoming appointment, and on the day of the session, you connect with me online and we start the session.
Note: It is important that you have a good internet connection, good lighting and good sound. Please test before the first session so you don’t lose your precious time. Also make sure you are in a quiet environment where you won’t be interrupted.

The difference in time zones makes for some very practical scenarios the most common being having a consultation outside business hours, during your nightshift or on bank holidays. These are some of the many advantages online consultations offer. Others common scenarios involve clients with mobility issues meaning that they can’t leave the house because for example they have to care for someone or clients suffering from some form of disability making them dependent on others for their mobility. Last but not least, another great advantage of online consultation means that you can have a consult in your native language, even when you live abroad. Online consults are really very convenient as you can have them right where you are.

We all depend on external parties for our internet connections so I understand that this means that sometimes it can be unstable or drop and that this has nothing to do with the end user.
If your internet connection is unstable , my rule for this is we can try to reconnect up to 5 times in an hour, with a max or 1 minute per interruption, this means you lose no more of 5 minutes of your session. If the connection is too poor to work, you will get the opportunity to reschedule for free. I allow for 10% free rescheduling (1/10 sessions)
You will be given a discount code that allows you to reschedule for free.

If my internet connection were to be unstable, my rule for this is we can try to reconnect up to 2 times in an hour, with a max or 1 minute per interruption, this means you lose no more of 2 minutes of your session. If the connection is too poor to work, you will get the opportunity to reschedule for free. I allow for 100% free rescheduling for which I would not have been able to provide you with a good quality service. In that case, you will be given a discount code that allows you to reschedule for free.

Sessions last 60 minutes.

The cost for most sessions is around US$ 60.00

Online sessions are paid via credit card or other online payment systems at booking time. For other payment modalities, please contact me first.

No, I do not work with health insurances.

We human beings are incredibly resourceful and adaptable creatures and our minds constantly strive to find a balance between the internal and the external world. This universal and ever ongoing process means that many of the difficulties we experience tend to resolve themselves over time , often spontaneously as we learn new skills, adapt to new circumstances or integrate painful experiences.
For that same reason too, people usually seek a professional not because they have a problem, but because they don’t know how to solve it.
The difference between the three modalities is in the type of request for help and the time it occupies the focus of the client’s attention.
Specific professional or personal development questions that take place in the here and now, are often learned through the lens of coaching.
The so-called “life events” (Ex: Loss, grief, separation, etc.) and the stress associated with them are usually addressed with counseling.
More deeper questions, often originating in a distant past, can be more complex and are usually treated with psychotherapy. This does not necessarily mean that psychotherapy has to be very lengthy, but it require more investment in terms of time, anda real  commitment to therapy.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Some psychological disorders may have a physiological origin. Therefore, if I believe it necessary, I can refer you to your GP or a psychiatrist for a second opinion, before starting or even continuing therapy.
If, when I am referring you you wish to continue with the sessions, I will ask you to bring a medical certificate excluding physiological causes of your discomfort, before continuing with the sessions. Your physical health is taken as seriously as your mental well-being.

Whether they occur in an online practice or at a fixed location, sessions usually take place on a weekly basis.
What is said or expressed during the meeting is covered by professional secrecy and is treated in strict confidence, including to partners or family members.
During the sessions, it is investigated what the client wants or what stands in the way of their well-being.

Regardless of whether it is coaching, counseling or therapy, the essence is exploring, accepting, naming, reworking, testing and growing further.
That is why people often talk about a “process”, that is to say a shift in view and experience that takes place over time.

In therapy, mental health professionals often refer to something called “psychological integration”. This refers to the movement an individual makes as he or she internalizes the past, develops a new view of both him/herself and of the outside world, and learns new behaviors that are more effective and adaptable in managing day to day life.

The nature and dynamics of the sessions change as the transformation process unfolds and integration takes place.

Regardless of the technique used, therapy refers to the use of a set of instruments that appeals to the capacity for healing that lies within each person and mobilizes it so that the client can continue with their life feeling more autonomous and freer.

Sessions last 60 minutes. I always leave it to my clients to monitor the time, this is important as it implies an autonomous choice of their client and helps them focus on what really matters.

Integrative Psychotherapy focuses on the individual and her or his unique world. With a broad palette of conventional and non-conventional methods on hand (CBT, EMDR, NLP, trance, imagination, etc.), therapists tailor a unique form of therapy for each client.
